Cogeneration and heating network

A winning combination

The Dalkia solution

An upgraded and expanded heating system with a long future

Dalkia invested over €20 million in order to lower company debt and therefore reduce the borrowing charges, which were incorporated in the cost of heating and to finance the network upgrade and expansion.

  • The network was expanded to serve some 10,000 additional households, representing close to 100 MW in new connections.
  • A reduction in rates in constant terms, despite an increase in local taxes.
  • A 12% reduction of network incidents between 2002 and 2003.
  • Improved energy efficiency.

Environmental and work force commitments

  • Control over costs and technological resources translates into a guarantee of reasonable prices for customers and of quality, particularly in terms of continuity of service.
  • Network extension will result in the elimination of the city's small coal-fired facilities, which cause considerable pollution.
  • Dalkia also plans to invest in the construction of a desulfurization system.
  • A social commitment has been signed concerning the salary and employment conditions.
